Three awareness programs were organised in the Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya, Pahalgaon to educate and sensitise the students on important issues related to child protection, health and well-being.
The first programme was conducted by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), North & Middle Andaman. The resource persons, Smt. Shilpita Biswas, Social Worker, DCPU and Shri Priyatan Kumar, Protection Officer (NIC), DCPU, spoke about the role and functions of DCPU, child rights and child marriage. The session helped students understand their basic rights and the importance of child protection.
The second awareness programe was conducted by Dr. Priyanka, R.P. Hospital, along with Kritika Chander, MO (Homoeo) PHC, on balanced diet, nutrition, health and hygiene. A mental health and telemedicine awareness talk was also conducted, highlighting the importance of maintaining good physical and mental health.
The third programe was conducted by the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), North & Middle Andaman, session took by Shri Alex Minj Counselor IRCA, focusing on drug abuse and its prevention. Students were made aware of the harmful effects of substance abuse and encouraged to adopt a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
The programs were informative and interactive, helping students develop greater awareness about their rights, health, mental well-being and the harmful effects of substance abuse.
