Awareness Programme on Dog Bite and Rabies

An awareness programme on dog bite and rabies was conducted at Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya, Pahalgaon at 8:30 a.m., where staff from the Veterinary Hospital visited the school to create awareness among students and teachers. The experts explained the importance of prevention by advising students not to tease or provoke dogs, to avoid contact with stray or sick animals, and to ensure pet dogs are regularly vaccinated. They also demonstrated the correct first aid steps in case of a dog bite, which include immediately washing the wound with soap and running water for 10–15 minutes, applying antiseptic, and seeking medical help without delay. The session also covered rabies, explaining that it is a serious and fatal viral disease spread through the bite of an infected animal, and stressed that timely vaccination after a bite is essential to save lives. The programme was informative and helped students understand safety measures and the importance of prompt medical care.
